The other day I was talking to Tiffany on the phone & she asked us what our plans were for the 4th of July . . . . my simple answer was . . . . Nothing. It doesn't mean anything to us! Shock Horror! Anyway, since Tiffany was coming to town for the holiday weekend we decided to do the all American thing and head to the baseball for the 4th. Gee, if we have to!
We came to the conclusion that if Tiffany could sit through a baseball game for the fireworks we could sit through the fireworks for a baseball game. Not really, we love fireworks. It is just that we are Aussies & the 4th is not a big deal to us (obviously - but not so obvious to an American) We were sitting way up top along the right field line but the view for the game wasn't that bad. From what we can tell, I don't really think there is a bad spot in the whole of Coors Field.
It is a brilliant Stadium.
The Rockies played the Florida Marlins in the craziest game ever. The Rockies were down by 6 runs at one stage but managed to come back thanks to a Grand Slam from Matt Holliday & win 18-17. That score for a baseball game is insane but with all the runs being scored it made for a great game to watch & of course made even better because the Rockies won. After the epic game was finally decided the teams left the field & the fans in the Rock pile and the Right field stand were filed onto the field so they could see the fireworks. The fireworks were fantastic & they lasted about 20 mins. Kaiden loved it. So did we but he really loved it.
So that is how we spent our 4th of July. It was nice actually because last year we were in Yellowstone National Park so we missed all the celebrations for this National Holiday. Not that we minded but it was nice to see all the fireworks & see how the Yanks celebrate their most important day of the calendar. It was an experience to add to the list.
